Good morning, Anderson.
🏘️ Community
Anderson residents can attend Celebrate Anderson & Hot Air Affair from Sept.
4 to 7 at Anderson Civic Center Launch Field, which will feature 40 hot air balloons, live music, food trucks and a Kids Zone to mark the county’s 200th birthday and benefit local cancer patients.
💼 Business
Publix will open new stores in Duncan (at the corner of Hwy 29 and Pine Ridge) in summer and in Powdersville (at 3518 Hwy 153) in mid-2027, and it has removed the 10-item limit on express lanes to speed checkout service.
🎭 Culture
Piedmont grew from a power-harnessed river that fueled textile mills in the 1800s and built a vibrant community split between two counties.
Local historian Chuck Davis explains that the river created both industry and division, leaving a legacy remembered today (through historic mill ruins and community spirit).
